The Nut Graph

PUTRAJAYA, 2 April 2009: Yang di-Pertuan Agong Tuanku Mizan Zainal Abidin has consented to the appointment of Datuk Seri Najib Razak as the sixth prime minister of Malaysia, Chief Secretary to the Government Tan Sri Mohd Sidek Hassan announced today.

He said in a statement that Najib would be presented his letter of appointment as prime minister and would take his oath of office, loyalty and confidentiality before the Yang di-Pertuan Agong at Istana Negara at 10am tomorrow.

This morning, Datuk Seri Abdullah Ahmad Badawi had an audience with the Yang di-Pertuan Agong to hand over the letter relinquishing the post of prime minister in accordance with the agreed transition of power from him to Najib.

Najib, who succeeded Abdullah as the Umno president at the party general assembly last week, also had an audience with the Yang di-Pertuan Agong at Istana Negara today.

Abdullah was appointed the fifth prime minister of Malaysia on 30 Oct 2003, having succeeded Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad. — Bernama

Hindraf DONT APE THE THE TAMIL TIGER AND LOOSE ,LEARN FROM THE THEIR MISTAKE OF ATTACKING THE MUSLIMS WHILE PRAYING AT MOSQUE BLASTING SANJAY GANDHI TODAY INDIA AND THE MUSLIM NOT THERE TO HELP WHILE THEY ARE BEING SLAUGHTERED

Muslim786malaysia’s Blog

’m writing this with deep concern over the Pakatan Rakyat’s prospects in the Selambau Election as well as for the future of the alternatif movement as well. Just over a month ago we were quite united, and so confident that BN could never win, even against goats & cows. Today the situation has changed dramatically, as the conflict that is apparently brewing within the AM over the choice of candidate for the Bukit Selambau by election threatens our chances there as well the achievement of our aspirations for Malaysia. I say apparently, because my only sources of information are news reports & blogs postings, some from the MSM, some from bloggers & journalists whose agendas I don’t know about. I have no way of verifying what is the real situation, & given the Standard Operating Procedures of our opponents in the past, I cannot stress enough the importance of  getting to the TRUTH.

What I find especially distressing is the tone of the anger that has been directed at Hindraf & the PKR dissenters, in the comments & reports in our blogosphere. On page after page they have had so many insults, threats & stereotypes hurled at them, it is as if BN’s propaganda in the MSM & blogs designed to demonize, demoralize & discredit them has done its job. I don‘t doubt that most of our comments have been made with good intentions & end in mind, i.e. victory for PR, and were sparked by that sense of urgency & alarm that we all feel as the elections approach. Nevertheless, I cannot but feel that such a tone is unworthy of anyone who shares in the values that I believe PR stands for.

Have we forgotten the role that Hindraf played in making 8/3/08 possible? These are the people who, in their pain & desperation could do nothing else but put their bodies & their lives in the path of the FRU & their chemical cannons. True, dissatisfaction with BN had been growing for a long time, but for me, seeing the blood that they shed when they stood their ground & embraced the truncheon’s blows over & over again, deeply changed the way that I thought & felt about my country & myself. They led the way, they electrified us, even shamed us into action; but sadly, to this very day, they and their families still bleed for it. Some are locked away & forgotten; some prosecuted & persecuted. Many know now what it is to be without Father, Husband or Family. Some, ill, uncared for and forsaken, deteriorate day by day; and one, in exile, may never get to return home, not even to die. Then, there’s that deepest & most painful of wounds that they
all bear: the subtle racism, overt ostracism & slur; a wound to which we can now safely say, we have rubbed in our own little “contribution” of salt. Whatever you or I may think about Hindraf or their apparent position on Bukit Selambau, let us agree that at the very least, we owe them our respect & gratitude.

I’ve organised the rest of my thoughts under 4 headings:
A.      Our  Current Situation
B.      What’s really at stake here
C.      Suggested Way Forward
D.      Final Thoughts

Gadis seksi pancing undi BN

Malaysiakini | 2 April 2009

Majlis makan malam perpaduan dihadiri kira-kira 1,500 orang.

“Semua kaum menjadi penentu.

On the eve of 3rd April

Posted in Uncategorized by malaysiasms on April 2, 2009

Malaysia Today

On the eve of 3rd April 2009, let us take a trip down memory raja_petra3_newlane and recap what Balasubramaniam a/l Perumal said on 1st July 2008. I spent six hours with him the day he signed his Statutory Declaration and I can confirm he did not sign it under duress. In fact, he was quite disappointed that my SD had come out a couple of weeks earlier, so that made his SD the second instead of the first. He said he would have liked his to be the first.

THE CORRIDORS OF POWER

Raja Petra Kamarudin

STATUTORY DECLARATION

I, Balasubramaniam a/l Perumal a Malaysian Citizen of full age and residing at [deleted] do solemly and sincerely declare as follows :-

1. I have been a police officer with the Royal Malaysian Police Force having jointed as a constable in 1981 attached to the Police Field Force. I was then promoted to the rank of lance Corporal and finally resigned from the Police Force in 1998 when I was with the Special Branch.

2. I have been working as a free lance Private Investigator since I left the Police Force.

3. Sometime in June or July 2006, I was employed by Abdul Razak Baginda for a period of 10 days to look after him at his office at the Bangunan Getah Asli, Jalan Ampang between the hours of 8.00 a.m. to 5.00 p.m each working day as apparently he was experiencing disturbances from a third party.

4. I resigned from this job after 2 ½ days as I was not receiving any proper instructions.

5. I was however re-employed by Abdul Razak Baginda on the 05-10-2006 as he had apparently received a harassing phone call from a Chinese man calling himself ASP Tan who had threatened him to pay his debts. I later found out this gentleman was in fact a private investigator called Ang who was employed by a Mongolian woman called Altantuya Shaaribuu.

6. Abdul Razak Baginda was concerned that a person by the name of Altantuya Shaaribuu, a Mongolian woman, was behind this threat and that she would be arriving in Malaysia very soon to try and contact him.

7. Abdul Razak Baginda informed me that he was concerned by this as he had been advised that Altantuya Shaaribuu had been given some powers by a Mongolian ‘bomoh’ and that he could never look her in the face because of this.

8. When I enquired as to who this Mongolian woman was, Abdul Razak Baginda informed me that she was a friend of his who had been introduced to him by a VIP and who asked him to look after her financially.

9. I advised him to lodge a police report concerning the threatening phone call he had received from the Chinese man known as ASP Tan but he refused to do so as he informed me there were some high profile people involved.

10. Abdul Razak Baginda further told me that Altantuya Shaaribuu was a great liar and good in convincing people. She was supposed to have been very demanding financially and that he had even financed a property for her in Mongolia.

Pakatan Rakyat mohon YDP Agong tangguh pelantikan Najib

Posted in Uncategorized by malaysiasms on April 2, 2009

Harakah Daily

28 Mac 2009
1 Rabiul Akhir 1430

Mengadap Seri Paduka Baginda Yang di-Pertuan Agong

Al-Wathiqu Billah Tuanku Mizan Zainal Abidin Ibni Almarhum Sultan Mahmud al-Muktafi Billah Shah

Amin Ya Rabbal ‘Alamin

Bukit Selambau: PKR man has what it takes, says Anwar Ibrahim

Posted in Uncategorized by malaysiasms on April 2, 2009

Malaysiakini

Our man has what it takes, says Anwar

S Pathmawathy

bukit selambau by election anwar ibrahim ceramah 010409 03Picking a rookie to contest in the Bukit Selambau state by-election in Kedah has raised eyebrows and fueled anger among some of the local leaders. However, Pakatan Rakyat supremo Anwar Ibrahim is confident that S Manikumar has what it takes to win the seat.

Last night (March 31) , the opposition leader attempted to clear any doubts regarding the PKR candidate’s capabilities during a ceramah.

Arriving at the ceramah in Taman Kelisa around 11pm straight from Bangkok, he told some 1,500 people that although Manikumar, 32, was politically inexperienced, he was willing to learn. “People said the same thing about (Nurul) Izzah (Anwar) when she contested against seasoned politician Sharizat Abdul Jalil in the Lembah Pantai constituency in the general election but despite all criticisms, Izzah prevailed,” he said, referring to his 27-year-old daughter who won the parliamentary seat in the last election.

Similarly, he said, local boy Manikumar will be able to shoulder the responsibility given proper guidance. Moreover, he explained thatbukit selambau by election pkr candidate s manikumar campaign 300309 03 Pakatan was not playing the ‘racial card’ as accused by Barisan Nasional component party leaders by placing an Indian. “We brought him here as a member of the Indian community but he is a candidate representing PKR, DAP and PAS,” he added.

Turning his focus to the states helmed by Pakatan Rakyat, Anwar said the respective state governments have done so much for the people over the past 13 months compared to BN over the past 50 years. Kedah is one of the states under Pakatan control.  He also criticised the police and Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) for (allegedly) favouring BN.

“When it comes to us, even cows donated for sacrificial purposes they (MACC) can find fault with Selangor Mentri Besar Khalid Ibrahim on technical terms but the thousands of ringgit which have gone missing and years of unaudited books, they cannot investigate fast enough,” he said.

Who is afraid of Altantunya?

Meanwhile, Anwar also told the crowd that Kedah state exco and former Bukit Selambau assemblyperson V Arumugam had expressed an interest to campaign for Manikumar. “However, I was worried that if he comes here he might disappear like S Balasubramaniam (who made a statutory declaration against incoming Prime Minister Najib Abdul Razak linking him to the murder of Mongolian national Altantuya Shaariibuu),” he said.

Arumugam Vengatarakoo resigned from his post two months ago, claiming to have come under intense pressure and received threats to join BN. Later, Anwar told reporters that Arumugam contacted him personally and expressed his desire to campaign for the PKR candidate. “Besides that, Arumugam also wanted to explain why he resigned and so forth… but I was not too sure (with regards to his safety),” he said.

Anwar also dismissed speculations that Manikumar was picked because the latter was related to Arumugam. “Maybe related to Adam,” he quipped. Apart from this, Anwar also commented on the police warning against raising the Altantunya matter and making seditious remarks during ceramah. “Who is scared of touching on the matter, it is not us, it is them (BN) and the cops are pulled into their political games by issuing warnings that are beneficial to them,” he said.

Despite the ban, Altantuya’s case crept into the speeches of lawmakers Saifuddin Nasution (Machang MP) and Abdul Wahid Endut (Kuala Terengganu MP) who spoke before Anwar’s arrival. As for PKR Jerai division chief B Kalaivanar’s resignation, Anwar said: “Well, he can choose to leave the party because we did not consider him a suitable candidate for known reasons. You can ask people on the ground.”

Asked on Kalaivanar’s claim that Indians in the state are being neglected and this would affect PKR’s chances. “That is his claim but you can ask the electorates, I don’t want to venture into that because generally the level of support from the Indians in particular has been very encouraging,” he said.

6 Important Questions to Ask Yourself When Looking For a Quality Gym

Posted in Uncategorized by malaysiasms on April 2, 2009

Tip of the Week

6 Important Questions to Ask Yourself When Looking For a Quality Gym

1. Does the gym staff have some academic and life-experience education regarding weight training? If they don’t have a sports medicine or exercise science degree, they should at least have some sort of certification from a recognized organization such as the National Strength and Conditioning Association.

2. Is the gym clean and is the equipment well maintained? Check the seats on benches and machines and make sure they are stable. Make sure the cables do not appear worn and are likely to break.

3. Is the air in a gym fresh and well circulated? It should never smell stale or musty.

4. Is the temperature of the gym maintained at a level that won’t increase the possibility of injuries? Temperatures that are too cold make joint and muscle injuries more likely.

5. Does the gym you’re considering have any regularly scheduled follow-up evaluations of your progress? It’s essential to find out if they offer an initial orientation to equipment you don’t know how to use, but it’s also vital that they schedule times to reevaluate your program and vary the routine.

6. Does the gym have an emergency medical plan in place and are the staff members trained in CPR and first aid in case someone becomes ill or injured?

Slogan ‘pohon restu rakyat’ sandiwara terdesak BN

Posted in Uncategorized by malaysiasms on April 2, 2009

Harakah Daily

Masyarakat India tak mahu ketinggalan

Posted in Uncategorized by malaysiasms on April 2, 2009

Harakah Daily

– azm_
